It Is Finally Time
Thank you all for being a part of my 2022.
As I have just recently been told, I should speak less. So, this will be a not-too-long letter.
To the people who started off the year with me but aren't here towards the end, in your own little and magnanimous way, for being a part of my journey and story, I want to say thank you. Honestly, e pain me o. I mean, this is the time we are meant to be living it up. Dreams do come through and prayers get answered. Na only us know our story. Sadly, I don't speak much about the things that cause me pain. My resolve has always been to bottle up and internalize, but the interpretation is always that I am fine, or rude, or proud - you sha know what you say. But in reality, man's just processing the pain and disappointment in people quietly and differently. I just want peace and I'm not trying to escalate the matter and/or certain issues. But yeah, God bless you. I truly wish you well and I hope that the new year is a better year for us all, and may all our wishes and heart desires come true.
To the people I met midway through the year, I can't wait for the world to truly discover you and I pray that 2023 is an even better year for us all.
To the people, life has made our paths cross, and in your own very unique way, you were there for me. With prayers, advice, running around, defending me, being relentless on my matter, always looking out for me, and generally wanting the best for me. I want to say thank you. Things may not have worked out as we all intended, but, if there is anything I have picked up in our life this year, it is that God always has a different plan for us. So, regardless of how things have played out, I just want you to know that I will always be rooting for you, just as much as you have rooted for me.
To the strangers I met after October, who have now become a part of my life. My friends, and family - the Islanders. If I am counting my victories in 2022, you guys are definitely topping that list. From me telling my story and finally accepting the life that is mine on national tv, to coming out and finding out that there are people who have decided to be a part of this life, my life, so it is easier for me to accept and navigate against all odds. To the Islanders who constantly pray for me. The Islanders who want me to win. The Islanders who are ready to set anyone straight if they mess with Adekunle. The Islanders who are eagerly waiting for me to start living up to my potential - this is an appreciation post. Words alone will not be enough and able to describe how grateful I am. So I guess actions will be added as well. So, without further ado, allow me to share with you,
The plans and activities lined up for 2023.
Come January 2023, I will be focusing more time and energy on creating political awareness and making an attempt to bridge the gap between the politics of old and youths today. I established an online community for this is 2020 for this sole purpose. We cannot keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result. We aren't kids anymore. The 2023 Presidential and General Elections are a few weeks away and we all need to be ready to do what we can to ensure that we are steadily putting steps into place to build and create the Nigeria we want our children and descendants to live in comfortably. This starts with you, myself, and everyone around us doing the civil and right thing by first getting our PVC and intentionally participating and voting during the elections. The only way forward is through sensitization and community governance. Take a stand. Please follow and engage with Leaders of Tomorrow NG, my online political community on Instagram and Twitter. Thank you!
By March 2023 after the Elections, #ThisIsNotAnExcuse will finally launch and will be available for everyone. The initial plan was to release the book sooner, but, things happened along the line and the plans changed. I apologize. I know, I know, this is not an excuse. But, now we have more time to properly plan and finally release the book. As God willed and intended. Make it a date, set your calendars, and yes, no more excuses.
Come April 2023, AdireNation will be releasing a fashion collection. I know a lot of people will be excited about this one, and yes, there will be a lot of "money changing" - (translate to yoruba) outfits as well as Gen Z and new school fashion. You just wait and see. Just make sure you are following AdireNation across socials. That is Instagram and Twitter as well.
By May/June 2023, The Barbecue Man productions should be ready to launch as well. This is the golden project of the year. More details on this will be shared in the coming months.
There will also be an African book tour for #ThisIsNotAnExcuse, as well as #AdireNation also being available in other African countries.
Come summer 2023, we will be fully exploring our travel, tourism, and lifestyle experience business. There is this as well. Always been in the pipeline, but, LOL, pipe go soon burst.
The next couple of months will be spent introducing you all to the other different businesses and plans. Trust me, there is still so much more to be revealed.
Please note; that somewhere in here, although not mentioned, is the opportunity and caveat that other things will happen and will only be made public as they are happening. Not everything can/will always be pre-planned. Because ultimately, God is still very much involved and in control.
So you see, there truly is a lot happening and I cannot wait to discover and uncover all of them with you. 2023 is definitely going to be an amazing ride for us Islanders. Thank you for being with me thus far.
This is also my last newsletter for the year. It's been real. I truly love you all.
Until next time, and my next newsletter to you, I wish you Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year in advance.
Yours barbecuing,
Deks.
