I thought Work-Life balance was hard, then I realized that Work-Out balance is harder.
I ate so much rice, and I didn't really eat also, and now my stomach ... sorry gut, has suffered for it.
Hey everyone,
I thought Work-Life balance was hard, then I realized that Work-Out balance is even harder.
I haven't been to the gym in a month now, and it’s because I thought I could juggle work and life easily. But as things got more demanding at work, my workouts were the first to suffer – and by extension, I felt a disconnect from the energy I usually bring to our community.
During this time away, something I’ve always known became even clearer: the longer you're out of the gym, the tougher it is to get back in. All the progress, effort, and healthy habits you've built slowly start to fade, especially when it comes to eating well.
But that’s not all I’ve been thinking about.
Eating healthy can feel expensive, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise, especially with the rising cost of food we're all experiencing here in Nigeria. Many of the foods that support a healthy lifestyle don't come cheap. However, that doesn't mean your weight goals or fitness journey are out of reach. A lot of it comes down to making sustainable lifestyle changes and adjusting to our current realities.
For example, if you want to lose weight, it often involves eating slightly less, swapping sugary drinks for fruits, increasing physical activity, and remembering that consistency is key. It’s not a quick fix; fitness is truly a lifestyle. And if you're looking to build muscle or gain weight, that means eating more nutrient-dense foods and, of course, hitting the gym and engaging in regular physical activity.
The truth is, there's no magic bullet, but with research and thoughtful adjustments to your lifestyle, you absolutely can achieve your goals. I hope this reminder helps, and please know I'm always here to answer any questions you might have.
Speaking of getting back on track,
starting next week, I'm fully locking back into the gym!
I’m dedicating myself to one solid month to make up for my time away. My focus is on bulking up, building muscle, and reducing excess fat. I'll be posting daily (or frequent) updates about my journey, the struggles, and the wins (as this community was always intended for sharing), and I'm hoping you'll join me in whatever fitness goals you have too! Let's motivate each other.
During this one month, I’m planning to document everything: the exercises I'm doing, my diet, lifestyle adjustments, and all things healthy and fitness-related. By the end of this experiment, I'm aiming to compile all this information into a wellness/fitness ebook on what worked (and what didn't) for me in getting better with working out.
